Bilberry, the blue superfood!

The bilberry or myrtle (Vaccinium myrtillusBlueberry the bilberry), also known as blueberry is a deciduous, fruiting shrub with semi-dermal leaves, which turn red in autumn. The flowers are light pink and bell-shaped. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit is a rail with a characteristic blue-violet color. Prefers acidic soils and semi-shady planting locations. The bilberry harvest period starts from July to September.

The bilberry is infested with various enemies such as the bilberry worm (Rhagoletis pomonella Walls), the cranberries (Mineola vaccinii Riley) and the cherries (Grapholitha parkardi Dell), the nightshade and the granules.
