The swallow (catalpa bignonioides) is a fast-growing deciduous tree. Its crown is spherical and reaches a height of 10-20m. Its leaves are large in size, light green in color and heart-shaped.
Flowers
Its flowering occurs in July in corymbs consisting of white flowers with yellow and purple spots.
Fruit
The fruits appear in autumn in long capsules and remain on the tree until winter.
Terrain
It grows satisfactorily in all types of soil, without particular problems. A necessary condition is that the soil has good drainage. It prefers sandy soils, rich in nutrients.
Position
Prefers sunny positions but can also tolerate partial shade. It also shows great resistance to high summer temperatures, as long as it has sufficient humidity.
