Don't touch me, you shy plant!

The mimosa plant (Mimosa pudica), also known as "don't touch me" (=don't touch me!), is an adorable plant that impresses with its ability to react to touch by moving its leaves. It is a small perennial plant that originates from the tropical regions of South America. Its leaves are sensitive and close immediately when touched or when subjected to vibrations. The untouchable mimosa is an impressive example of how plants, like all organisms, live, interact and react in their own way!

Blossom

Its flowers are small, spherical with a pink or purple color. They usually appear in spring and summer.

Position

Prefers a position with direct sunlight, but can also grow in partial shade. It is ideal for indoor use and an average room temperature of around 16-30°C is ideal. It can also be used as an outdoor plant, but with the required care! The best place for placement is in front of or next to a bright window.

Watering

Regular watering is needed, but excessive soil moisture should be avoided. It is important to let the top of the soil dry out slightly between waterings.

Terrain

Mimosa grows most effectively in nutrient-poor, well-drained soil. In addition, mimosa also appears to grow in damaged and eroded soils.

Durability

It does not like the shade at all and is sensitive to frost, which means it cannot tolerate too little light or too low temperatures.
