The impressive beauty of Astilbe!

Astilbe (Astilbe chinensis), is a perennial, flowering shrub native to regions of Southeast Asia, especially China, Japan, Korea and North America, and belongs to the Saxifragaceae family. It can reach a height of about 30-90 cm depending on the variety. Its foliage is a dark deep green color and its flowers are dense and tufted in various colors such as red, pink, purple, yellow and white. Its flowering begins at the end of spring and lasts until July.

Position

It grows in places with partial shade. Direct sunlight should be avoided during the hot summer months.

Watering

It needs regular watering, not frequent nor too regular, in the summer months you should increase the watering but not retain moisture. (He doesn't love her at all!)

Fertilizer

It is one of the plants with several fertilizer requirements. A special fertilizer is needed for flowering plants (once a month from March to July). It is also a good idea to add some compost to the base of the plant in spring and early summer.

Durability

In a pot it is difficult to survive and bloom due to the limited space. It withstands from -5 to 35°C and does not freeze in winter.

Enemies and diseases

It is a very resistant plant to enemies and diseases. The only problem that can arise is root rot from too much moisture.
