Begonias, one of the most beautiful plants!

Η Begonia, is one of the beautiful and popular indoor and outdoor ornamental plants. It is also known as begonia or begonia. It reaches a height of up to 40-50 cm, has bright green, glossy foliage and many colorful, beautiful flowers. It comes from tropical regions of the world such as Africa, Asia and Australia.

Position

As mentioned before, we can also plant it outside in the garden or on the terrace flower pot or in one hanging basket but also inside the house. If you choose to plant it outside, find a shady or semi-shady spot out of direct sunlight to avoid burns to its foliage and flowers.

Terrain

Begonia belongs to acidophilic plants, so it must be planted in soil with a low pH. We choose mold for acidophilic plants. It does not need frequent repotting because it has a limited root system and also needs good soil drainage.

Watering

Watering should be done twice a week in the spring and every two days in the summer when the weather warms up. In winter, we limit the watering quite a bit as the shoots can rot with too much moisture.

Pruning

We prune the plant in early spring before its flowering begins. We remove dry and rotten branches and corporalize its shoots.

Enemies and diseases

It can be affected by fungal diseases, to avoid this we place the plant in a place with good ventilation and when watering we must not wet its leaves. It can also be affected by powdery mildew, mealybug, plant scab and ringworm.
