Mamillaria, the pink-crowned cactus

Η Mamillaria (Mammillaria) is one of the most popular groups of cacti, known for its impressive appearance and durability. Belonging to the Cactaceae family, it is native to Mexico and includes more than 200 species, with different sizes, shapes and colors. Its shoots often feature almond-shaped or spherical plugs, while its flowering is spectacular, with small, pink flowers appearing at the top of the cactus in spring and summer.

Position

It is an indoor cactus and can grow in all positions with or without light. It is very hardy and drought tolerant.

Fertilizer

Prefer mold for cacti and succulents for essential nutrients. Apply once a month liquid fertilizer the growth period. In winter, it is not necessary to apply fertilizer to the plant.

Watering

It is sensitive to excessive watering and prefers minimal water. During the hot summer months, it is good to provide small amounts of water when the soil seems slightly dry.

Durability

It does not like low temperatures, while the temperature in the cultivated area should never fall below 5°C.
