Origin: Latin America

Dipladenia, is an evergreen climbing shrub, with impressive flowers and glossy foliage. The ornamental value of this plant is particularly great because of the large flowers it produces and the prolonged flowering period. It reaches 2,5 meters in height.

Flowers

Its flowers are large, funnel-shaped. They consist of 5 petals with a variety of colors such as red, fuchsia, pink and white. Its flowering takes place in the summer.

Location

It needs warm and sunny places, protected from cold and strong wind. It can grow in various types of soil provided good drainage.

Durability

It is not resistant to low temperatures.

Watering

It needs moderate amounts of watering, with limited to no watering in the winter and more regular watering in the warm periods of the year.

Pruning

It is done at the end of spring, after its flowering has been completed. We apply light shaping pruning to maintain its shape.

Lubrication

If planted in suitable soil, the fertilization requirements are low. It is enough to add granular fertilizer before spring and autumn to enhance its flowering.

Diseases and enemies

Its most frequent enemies are the meligra, which creates honeydew secretions on the leaves of the plant. This results in many ants on our plant. The second enemy is coccoids, which attack the shoots of the plant.
