A shrub up to 3 m tall, with compound light green leaves that turn deep red in autumn and very decorative red fruits that persist all winter. The Summer flowering of the plant is also impressive, with white compound flowers. Resistant to calcareous soils and coastal areas, it prefers fertile and well-drained soils. It is used in horticulture for individual plantings but also for free borders, due to its special appearance.
