Lavender is an evergreen shrub, with grey-green leaves with some fluff. Its height reaches 80 cm.
Flowers
Its flowers grow in clusters and appear in different colors depending on the variety. Flowering begins in May and lasts until September.
Location
It needs sunny, long and hot summers but also cold periods to cause intense flowering. Grows and performs best in well-drained, sandy, deep soils with a pH of 6,4-8,2.
In medium and poor soils, the robustness and longevity of the plants as well as the quality are favoured. It is a xeric plant and grows best in an environment with limited humidity.
Durability
It is sensitive to very low temperatures. Suitable for coastal plantings.
Watering
It needs moderate amounts of watering, with limited to no watering in the winter and more regular watering in the warm periods of the year.
Pruning
We prune the rhizome relatively lightly, in early spring, keeping its shape in a compact form, removing diseased and dry twigs.
Lubrication
In order to achieve lasting and rich flowering, it is good to strengthen it regularly from spring to the end of summer.
