The dwarf ornamental pomegranate is a deciduous ornamental shrub with a height of 0,30-1 m in a spherical shape, with dense branches. Its leaves are small, light green, glossy, oblong and make a beautiful contrast with its orange flowers, which appear from May to September. It has an impressive appearance, when planted in rock gardens, planters, pots and flowering garden islands in all regions of Greece. The fruits are small in size, usually appear in autumn and are maintained throughout the winter, even after the leaves have fallen. They gradually acquire a purple color over time and are very impressive. It is a plant that grows easily, without special care and care in all types of soil or in pots. It prefers sunny planting locations, but can also withstand partial shade. We can classify it as the top species for low borders or clusters, due to its impressive and continuous flowering, in combination with its dense vegetation and its durability. With proper pruning it can be formed into a small tree and is considered an ideal plant for bonsai.
