Origin: Latin America and the Caribbean
 
Dieffenbachia (Dieffenbachia sp.) is an evergreen, herbaceous plant with moderate growth.
 
Leaves
 
Its foliage is impressive because of the color combinations. On its leaves it can have spots, spots or lines in green, yellow-green and cream color. It is ideal for large spaces, because its height can reach 1,5 m.
 
Terrain
 
It needs a medium consistency substrate with good drainage and rich in organic matter. It is good to transplant every 2 years.
 
Position
 
Dieffenbachia needs a bright spot without direct sunlight. Place away from drafts and temperature changes.
 

Durability

It grows ideally at a temperature of 18 – 28°C, while at lower temperatures it loses its robustness.  

Watering
 
During the vegetative period it needs abundant watering, while during the resting period it needs moderate watering.

Tip:

Regularly spray the leaves with lukewarm water for more moisture. It is ideal to frequently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to clean them from dust. It also helps the plant to breathe better and show growth.
 
Lubrication
 
Need fertilizer once a month throughout the year. In summer it needs fertilizer every 1-2 weeks. An ideal formulation is the water-soluble fertilizer for green plants.
 
Pruning
 
In summer, remove old and larger leaves.
 
Enemies and Diseases
 
The most common enemies of difenbachia are blackleg and scabies. While excessive watering favors the appearance of fungi resulting in root rot and finally wilting of the plant.

Toxicity
