Guzmania or Guzmania is one of the ornamental indoor plants that everyone can get, as its care requirements are not many. It is an indoor plant and like all Bromeliads it dies after flowering. However, new plants are easily created from the sprouts that appear during the flowering season.
Flowers
What we see as a flower on the plant are star-shaped bracts in a bright orange or red or fuchsia color.
Leaves
Its long leaves form tall and wide rosettes up to 50 cm high.
Terrain
Their soil should be light, with a high content of peat and have good drainage.
Position
It needs bright to semi-shady, but mostly warm (in winter not below 18 °C) and very humid environment.
Watering
During the growth period it needs abundant watering with soft water, which you will reduce in winter, and spraying of its leaves. Water the gusmania in the center of the rose.
Lubrication
From March to August apply a light fertilizer every 2 weeks. It is fertilized once a month during the autumn and spring period. As a result, its foliage is kept rich and robust. An ideal preparation is the water-soluble fertilizer for green plants.
Durability
It withstands the high temperatures of summer and the low temperatures of winter up to -20ºC. It is a plant resistant to heat, strong winds and air pollution.

Pruned in early spring for lush foliage.

Its most common enemy is the coccoids that cause cotton blight.
