Violet

Violet is a beautiful and fragrant, usually annual, spring plant, very easy to grow. Its height ranges from 30-50 cm. Their narrow gray-green leaves are in perfect contrast with their colored flowers, giving light and aroma to every part of your garden. The colors of the flowers are white, pink, fuchsia, red, purple, in single or wonderful double varieties. It has continuous and prolonged flowering from the beginning of spring until the beginning of autumn.

Loves the sun, tolerates partial shade. Suffers from excessive summer heat and sunshine.

It needs regular watering but also well-drained soils, rich in organic matter.

In general, it is sensitive to frost and winds and dries up with the first cold of winter.

Potted violets need fertilizing once a month from early spring to mid-summer. While violets in the ground need a complete granular fertilizer in early spring and again in early summer.

It shows sensitivity to fungal diseases such as mildew, botrytis and rust, but it is also attacked by caterpillars and aphids that will weaken it and spoil the aesthetics it offers to the space.
