Viga

Common Name: Viga
Origin: Southern and Central Europe and Western Asia

Viga is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant. It has beautiful shiny leaves. It has rich low vegetation and its height ranges from 20 to 50 centimeters.

Flowers

Its flowers are colorful, bright, single and there are many shades. It has prolonged abundant flowering from mid-spring to mid-autumn.

Terrain

It grows satisfactorily in all types of soil, without particular problems. A necessary condition is that the soil has good drainage.

Position

Prefers sunny or semi-shaded positions protected from strong and hot wind.

Watering

Water the plant regularly when you see the surface of its soil dry and be careful to always empty the saucer of water so that its roots do not rot.

Caution

You should not wet its leaves and flowers.

Lubrication

It does not have high nutrient requirements. It is good to apply a preparation in liquid form for immediate results in early spring and late summer.

Durability

It cannot stand the cold, for this winter we put it in a sheltered area. Be careful with strong winds. It is suitable for planting in areas with intense atmospheric pollution. Withstands coastal areas.

Pruning

No pruning needed. We need to remove the wilted flowers to maintain their vitality and have prolonged flowering. In mid-summer, when the first bloom is complete, we top the petunias to encourage new growth and create denser, longer-blooming plants.

Diseases and enemies

In vigas, the most common enemies are lice. We understand this because when we catch these plants they stick. Finally, petunias can also be affected by botrytis.
