Vineyards

Common Name: Vineyards
Origin: East Asia & Mexico

Characteristic of the vine are the leaves which are red in spring, green all year round and turn red again with the first cold spells, just not as bright red as in spring. It is a medium bush, upright and with some bent branches at the base which give it a graceful appearance.

Flowers

The flowers, trumpet-shaped, white and pale pink, perfume the garden from May to mid-October.

Location

It is extremely durable and adapts to various environments. It has no particular requirements in terms of soil, but prefers sheltered positions from strong winds. It can also be planted near the sea. It can grow in semi-shady places, but it prefers sunny places.

Durability

Resistant to cold and partial shade. Protect if temperature drops below -15 °C.

Watering

It has moderate water requirements, with the exception of the summer months when you can increase its watering. In winter we water about every 10 days. In the summer 3 to 4 times a week. In spring and autumn 1 to 2 times a week.

Pruning

It is necessary to remove the dried and diseased shoots in early spring. We apply light shaping pruning to maintain its shape.

Lubrication

Fertilize your plants regularly using a water-soluble fertilizer for flowering plants or a granular fertilizer. Slow-release granular fertilizer is added to the soil during planting, following the dosing recommendations stated on the package.

Plants grown in pots and planters may need more frequent fertilization to look better. Apply the fertilizer during the spring and summer period (once a month). You can use either the granular fertilizer by spreading it on the ground between the plants and then watering well or by dissolving the water-soluble fertilizer in the watering can.

Enemies and Diseases

Although the vine is a disease-resistant plant, in some cases colonies of aphids develop, insects that do not cause serious damage to the plant.

Appropriate for..

It is used individually, in clusters even for low fences. Decorates large and small gardens. It is also planted in large pots for terraces and balconies. Suitable for planting rock gardens, borders, but also for individual positions.
