Preparing a vegetable garden requires passion, attention and some basic knowledge.
Here are some steps you can take:
- Select the location: Choose an area in your garden where you get plenty of sun and well-draining soil. Its location needs to receive at least 6-8 hours of sunlight each day.
- Terrain: Make sure the soil has good drainage. Add organic material such as compost or manure to improve soil quality.
- Selection of plants: Select the vegetables you want to plant. Some popular ones are tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and parsley. The table below shows the plants you can plant in April (Table 1.).
- Sowing or planting: Depending on the species, you can choose to plant seeds or transplant already grown plants.
- Watering and care: Keep the soil moist but not overly wet. Give your plants enough water and add the appropriate organic fertilizers. Like organic calcium and organic potassium.
- Protection from enemies: Use natural means to protect your plants from diseases and insects. Certain plants such as basil, yarrow and lavender can repel insects.
- Harvest: When your vegetables are ready, harvest them at the right time for optimal flavor and nutritional value.
