Description of the plant
Members of the genus Sanvitalia are hardy, annual plants that reach about 15 cm in height.
They bloom from summer to the first months of autumn. Its leaves are oval in shape and the flowers are orange or yellow with a brown center.

It grows satisfactorily in all types of soil, without particular problems. A necessary condition is that the soil has good drainage.
Position
Prefers sunny places protected from strong and hot wind. Ideal plant for planting near water.
Watering
It has moderate water requirements. It withstands drought and needs sparse watering with a small amount of water.
Lubrication
Apply fertilizer in early spring, for lush flowering and avoid excessive fertilization during flowering as it has the opposite effect.
Durability
It thrives in places with mild winters and withstands cold and low temperatures down to -5οC. Caution is required with strong winds. Suitable for planting in areas with heavy air pollution. It withstands coastal areas.
Pruning
Its dry branches and mature flowers must be removed.
Diseases and enemies
Sanvitalia is a very resistant plant to diseases. It is rarely affected by diseases and insects such as mites, aphids or other coccoids. Its most important enemy is the lepidoptera, which feed on its leaves.
