Aerophyte care tips!

A common misconception about aerophytes is that they do not need any care. Unfortunately, this is not true. Initially, aerobic plants can survive in the humidity of the air, which is why they are so named. They are hardy and need less care than other houseplants.

  • Aerophytes love light but can not withstand direct sunlight, which quickly burns their foliage. Place your plant 1-1,5 m from a window facing south, east or west to ensure it gets plenty of bright, filtered sunlight. Placing them in glass terrariums or spheres is a popular and attractive solution.
  • Maintain a temperature between 10-32 ° C for healthy growth. Avoid places near heat sources.
  • Soak them in a basin of water for 15 minutes once a week. Then place them upside down on a clean towel to dry.
  • Feed them with fertilizer ideal for aerial plants once a month to encourage growth. Alternatively you can use any water-soluble compost of houseplants diluted. Pour the fertilizer into the watering can and immerse the plants in water for half an hour as you would normally do.
