Tips for a permanent green balcony!

Observe the orientation of your balcony.

Before you buy anything, take the time to find out how many hours of sunshine a day your balcony receives. Also pay attention to indirect light. Even a north-facing balcony can be a happy home for many plants if there is enough indirect light.

Choose the ideal pots.

The pots you intend to use should have the appropriate dimensions for the plants of your choice. Also, make sure they have adequate drainage.

Use the appropriate substrate.

Your plants need soil that provides adequate ventilation and a balanced water retention. Also, certain plant species, such as acidophiles (camellia, hydrangea, rhododendron, azalea, gardenia) and succulents need a special substrate.

Make sure you are not in a hurry to water.

Excessive watering has only negative effects. Check the soil in the pots before you start watering and water only those that are dry. Avoid watering at noon.

Fertilize your plants.

Your plants, in addition to water, also need "food". It is good to maintain a meticulous fertilization program in your plants, especially in the autumn and spring months. In summer and winter their needs are limited.

Protect your plants in winter.

Gather the pots in groups and cover with protective covers throughout the winter. If possible, protect your pots indoors.
