Gynerio, the popular herbaceous!

Herbs Of Pampa

The genius (Cortaderia selloana) is an impressive herbaceous plant that produces large, winged flowers from late summer to winter. It comes from South America. The botanical name of the plant was given by Alexander von Humboldt in 1818, in honor of the botanist and physiologist Friedrich Sellow, who studied the flora of South America. The latest trend in decoration is dried pampas grass.

Description

Its foliage has a light green color, which changes its shade slightly depending on the season. Its impressive flowers form large conical inflorescences and appear in summer until autumn. There are varieties that show white, pale pink or yellow flowers.

Care

. Location: Grows in sunny places and prefers light sandy soils with good drainage.

. Watering: It does not have high demands on water, except in the summer months when you can increase its watering.

. Multiplication: Multiplies by division. It has high seed productivity and each plant can produce over 1 million seeds during its lifetime.

. Pruning: After the end of flowering, we remove the entire aboveground part of the plant, for rich new vegetation in the next period.

. Fertilization: It is good to use a slow-release granular fertilizer for a rich flowering before the start of flowering.

Uses

  • Suitable for use in flower beds and rock gardens.
  • It is planted individually and in clusters.
  • It is resistant to salinity, so it is an ideal choice for coastal plantings.
  • Its dried flowers are used in the decoration of spaces, interior and exterior.
