Plant description
The Anthurium (Anthurium sp..) also known as "Devil's Language" is a tropical and perennial plant. It belongs to the family of Aroids, which consists of 700 species, such as the philodendron, Difenbachia, the sword leaf and others. It comes from Latin America.
It has shiny, large and wide green leaves. Its flowers are heart-shaped and their color varies (red, pink and white). Its flowering period begins in spring and ends in summer and can be extended if the plant receives sufficient light.
Plant care
Anthurium is a plant without special requirements in both watering and fertilizing. In winter it needs watering once a week and in summer about every 5 days. During the summer months it is good to spray the leaves with water to retain moisture and prevent them from drying out. It is fertilized once a month during the autumn-spring period. An ideal formulation is the water-soluble fertilizer for flowering plants.

It is ideal to frequently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to clean them from dust. It also helps the plant to breathe better and show growth.

- Its possible enemies are the meligra, the granules and the thrips. While excessive watering favors the appearance of fungi resulting in root rot and finally wilting of the plant.

Plant uses
Anthurium is an indoor plant, it prefers bright places with indirect light and high relative humidity. Avoid shady places because they cause yellowing of the leaves and delay its flowering. The ideal growth temperature is 19 - 25 ° C while at lower temperatures it loses its robustness.
Caution!!! Anthurium is a toxic plant for cats and dogs, because its leaf tissue contains calcium oxalate crystals. In case of ingestion, a strong burning sensation and skin irritation may occur.
