Η Aukuba Japanese 'Crotonifolia' is one of the most popular aukumba varieties. It is used as an indoor plant but can easily be planted outside in the garden because it is extremely resistant and easy to grow.

Plant description

Aukuba is an evergreen plant with a spherical shape and can reach 1,5-2 meters in height. It has green, serrated, leathery, shiny leaves with yellow spots. Females have red, glossy fruits that remain throughout the winter after flowering. The presence of male and female plant helps in fruiting.

Development conditions

Prefers shady or semi-shady places. It needs fertile soil with very good drainage and slightly acid reaction, while the addition of organic matter to it, helps in its better growth. It is good during the period of its development to add a complete fertilizer. It withstands low temperatures, but should be protected from air currents. The only requirement of aukuba for a sturdy plant is regular but measured irrigation, even during winter.
